2016 1.4 ecotsi remap?

Hi all, I have a 2016 1.4 ecotsi 150bhp with the Act (active cylinder technology). After several issues, I've come to the decision to keep the car!

Driving down the valley on a main road that runs along side the river, I found the engine is powerful but I did feel myself wanting a little more (having previously had much faster cars)

Has anyone had this engine mapped/chipped? Did do some googling and only found one person who's had it done but that was the 140bhp engine.

Many thanks all!

I have the same engine and have been considering doing the same. There are a few that have done it here. They have said it does give a nice boost to the engine. As usual with any remapping the amount of miles your engine has covered and style of driving will have a big impact on reliability. If it's been driven hard then your clutch will probably go quite quickly. Not sure how much a new one is or how much an uprated one is.
I personally would look for a custom map from a well known tuner or go with a well known off the shelf one (generic remap) like REVO or APR. I used Custom Code (JBS) a long time ago but haven't seen much about them recently. It worked nicely on my old Ibiza 1.9 sport TDI 130. JBS are a well known VAG group specialist from Derbyshire. Not sure you can still get the APR map.
Where are you based?

Just down from Newport Wales. Have previously had one done by a company on 1.8t 2007 polo in a small company in Bristol and celtic tuning did my 2014 tdi Leon. Needless to say the polo one went terribly wrong shortly after, the Leon I did 40k miles then the dual mass showed signs but they're like chocolate on that engine!

My car has 32k miles, owned since 30k and other than today I've not really driven it hard, it's got a couple of electrical 'gimicks' as If a few control modules go into power saving for a few secs, but other than that the car seems like she's been well looked after so confident it would be fine.

I usually do short trips to work, then home mid day and back, so usually do 3 miles a day tops, and my partner is going to be using it to go uni next year, but that's all motorway miles (and she usually drives a 2012 i10, so this is like a ferrari to her)

I've seen Celtic tuning advertised but not actually seen anyone that used them. They are certainly an option given that you have used them before. Again most people worry about the clutch and gearbox when these are mapped. I personally think if you get a map done you need to be prepared that the clutch could go not to long after. That's what happened to me. I went to a place quite a long way from me called Jabbasport in Peterborough to get a performance clutch that did the job for many years.

If you can do a 2 hour drive then p torque in Wolverhampton have been well recommended over the years. They have generic maps they have developed themselves and also do rolling road custom remaps.

I had the same feeling with my 1.4 act 150
Ended up trading in for a 1.8 tsi no need for a map now.
I had one of them, had it returned because I had so many problems in the first 2 weeks, took me 3 months to return it! And the camchain rattled like hell was one of the things that started Happening

Jumping on the band wagon here. Also got a 1.4 ACT and looking to stage 1 remap. any concerns/advice? Previously used Superchips before for diesel stage 1.

Got mine running a custom tune at 193Bhp/316NM.
Won't do that standard mind, and tbh it's not really that safe. Injectors are at the limit, clutch has developed minor slip and it still struggles for air.

I previously had a generic map on it at around 170 and it was fairly decent, would give a 184TDI a good go, however with the custom tune it's slightly quicker.

nice mate! was it worth it (as in did you feel a big change with the generic? not a huge increase in horsepower). did the ACT still work ok and MPG similar? cheers.

Yes and no.
Power delivery on the custom is much smoother and 5th pulls stronger compared to generic map.
On the other hand the custom map is too much for the clutch, which I was warned about but its done. I will say that without 99ron fuel it does feel a little bit weaker, I don't think it's placebo.

MPG: Depends on fuel type and how I drive.
The new E10 is awful, I get about 40 driving like a granny.
Momentum99 gets me about 48 if I drive sensible and down to around 38 if I give it some.

Mine is 2014 so doesn't have ACT, but it wouldn't affect the way it works

Unless you're willing to get a good induction system, backbox/res delete, sport cat( I don't have but was advised it'll help), uprated clutch. Then stick with a generic map like REVO or something like that

You should only run the fuel the car was tuned on. I just contacted apr because i was struggling to get 99 momentum. They do not recommend lower fuel because it cam cause pre detonation.
