2nd row seats removable?

Have Googled and searched forums for this and found nothing.

Had a dealer claim that the 2nd row seats in a Sharan mk2 are removable, and a different dealer claim that the ones in an Alhambra are not. I mean without tools, and without airbag light problems after replacing them.

Anyone know what the situation is for the Alhambra? I suspect the situation may not be the same in all years, so if you know your seats are removable (or if your manual says they are), then would you be so kind as to post the age of your car as well (e.g. Apr 2013).

Very much leaning towards the Alhambra rather than the Sharan, on the grounds of basic included features, but this might be the critical thing.

Thanks,

What year car are you talking about, my 58 Alhambra seats are removable - I can just have the car with front two seats only if I need to move things.

Hi Nutkey,

I've got a Mark2 Alhambra (2004). Galaxys, Sharans and Alhambras were all the same chassis and thus all seats can be removed without tools (bar the drivers and passenger seats)

Take the two very back seats out and looking at the remaining middle row from behind you'll see a horizontal bar at the base of each of them. Grab that bar and squeeze it upwards. That will release the back of the chair from it's housing on the floor. Tilt the seat forward and you'll see another horizontal bar which you squeeze upwards which will release the front seat clips from the floor.

Hope this helps.

Thought mark 2 was post-2010 - 2004 is mark 1b isn't it?

Anyway, the seats are definitely not removeable in the 2010 model - I've bought a 2013 model, and see no way of doing it short removing the runners. However, there are no side airbags in those seats (unlike the Sharan, despite the equivalent NCAP), so there should be no problems if we did actually want to remove them.
