does anyone have a 60/40 or 50/30 lowering on a cordoba/ or cordoba vario. i have eibach 30mm prokit on my car (cordoba vari 2002 sdi), but it is too hihg in the front, and im considering more lowering. i have 205/40/17" tires (15" nokia hakkapelitta 2 in the winter), should there be any problem with the tires? i have these "plastics" in the upper of the wheelhouse (they prevent the rust for commin to the matal, because here in the finland they put lots of salt in the roads in wintertime, to prevent icening...)

i use 35 mm eibach springs all round and it sits very nice indeed, different heights front and back will also alter the way the car handles and im not sure whether that is for the good.

I dont know anyone who has this kit you mention but i did have a Spax kit on my old Mk2 Golf. That lowered 60mm at front and 40mm at the rear. I did not notice a problem with handling bit it did ride very hard and the front spoiler hit everything!

However it did look loads better as most of the VAG family seem to be rear heavy when it comes to lowering

Ive just order 40mm all round PI Springs for my Cordoba, Waiting for delivery so will report on what they are like very soon!

Rad , ive had the 40 mm Pi springs in a word they are poor, they lowered closer to 4 - 5 inches as the wheels disappeared under the arches. Handling was quite harsh especially over residential areas with uneven tarmac, i took them out and fitted Eibach springs which are a world better.

Oh great! ive got plenty of speed bumps to negotiate on my way to work aswell!

Oh well I'll give them a go, if they catch on 17's, which is likely if they do go as low as you say then they will be soon replaced!

i had to have them replaced cause i was also having my f2 bumper fitted, with the Pi on they couldnt get the bumper on without jacking the front end up, but then when they had to unjack it the car wouldnt have ben able to move off the concrete floor as it would have been touching the ground!! on 16"s btw but 17 wont make any diff cause the springs will still give going over bumps.

thats her with standard kit and pi springs.

Ouch! That looks pretty low!

I've looked at the PI website and there are different part numbers for your 16V and my 1.6 but the length will probably be the same, just the spring rate will be different I reckon due to yours having the bigger engine.............we will wait to see!

i gave marty my old Pi springs (got less than a years use on them) but i dont think he ever fitted em, but to me i think the springs are identical, the springs are manufactured to a accutatish weight estimate, but the differnece between the 1.6 and 2.0 isnt that great that new springs would be needed.

I'm running PI springs the moment same as brendy had before he went for a sensible option - i've put splitfire bump stops (that fit to spring) to raise it 5 mmm as it bottoms out like a b***ard.
Defo a no no with an F2 bumper. Dampers are standard :(

Also - tailpipes may ground out over speedbumps.

It's sat on 17's with 225/35's which don't help either...;)

After Alconbury - thinking of junking the suspension for adjustable platforms (although it handles) OK as spacers have been fitted (4 pot up front).

as soon as finances permitting i'll be going for decent dampers also as the eibachs springs are good but they dont make up for deficiencies that are found in standard shocks.

Rather than start a new thread - as it is related to ride height.

Anyone got any experience with AVO Evolution Coilover kits?

Had a look at the FK stuff etc etc but the AVO seem the best value.

However - I have heard there may be problems with knackered seals...

Before you ask - I have PI springs at the moment and would like to try different (higher) ride heights and damper rates.

Must get the letter of to Santa soon
:xmas2: :D

I got a 40mm drop kit all around for my Cordoba vario but I was sent a 2ltr petrol kit and mine is lower at the back than the front. I think its because the spax kits are just made for the ibizas and sold for the cordobas because they fit but the extre weight over the rear axle isn't accounted for.

Sam.
