Hi spent the last while having look through all the info on DPF lights and problems and still feel a bit in the dark! Wonder if anyone can help me!

Had the DPF light come on late yesterday and didn't know what it was and seein it was the last mile of a 60 mile journey thought i would just leave it till the morning. Started the car today and the light was still there, rwlaised what it was and tried giving it a bit of a blast to get the DPF heated up. Then the coil light came on and the car went into "limp mode". I drove it conservatively home and I am now wondering if I can sort this without a trip to the dealer!

Thanks!

Mine did exactly the same thing and i took it to the dealer and they charged me £150 for a sensor on the dpf. They said they gave me discount but it soulds like you need to take it to the garage and see if they can give it the re gen and try to clear it out first failing that you might have the same problem as i had. If its still under warrenty you might get it done foc but you will have to ask them cos they wont tell you. Good luck.

Ive started using V power diesel and never had a problem since. Dont know if its a coincidence or not. :)

Sounds quite similar to what I've experienced plus others.

As per the Post by ajc above - mine was not the DPF filter at fault, but the DPF Pressure Sensor.
The sensor was replaced by SEAT dealer, plus DPF Regen carried out - all ok after that.

Hope your issue is just minor too, best drive carefully - just to be on the safe side, until you can get it fixed. ;)

If you want to do the job yourself, you might need to connect your car up to one of the VAG COM diagnostic system available, which should give you an indication of the specific errors/codes being reported - then you might decide if you can do the job yourself.

A more direct alternative, is to do away with the DPF filter altogether, search for "DPF Delete" here on the boards. But then unless you go with one of the recommended "Tuners", you could end up with a different set of problems. :)

The sensors are a piece of piss to change mate, you will get a sensor from a local dealer (Bickets Kilmarnock) for under £100. :)

Going by the details you have given it sounds like a sensor has blown

When you think about the DPF temps that can be reached (I have seen 700 degrees with VAG-COM) it's no surprise that they melt being screwed into the DPF really.

took the leon to my local garage ive used for years and they stuck it thru the diagnostic for no charge :) error code theyve came back with was "08194 P2002 Particulate trap bank n1: efficienty below thresdold".

The fella at the garage agrees its a sensor but is unsure which one, would my googling and researching be right in saying that this is definelty a fault in the exhaust pressure sensor? I take it the sensor is attached to the DPF? Also, excuse the barrage of questions, if the sensor is replaced, how can i get the car out its limp mode, will vag com or equivalent be needed?

Once you install the new sensor, you will have to reset the fault code which if you have chosen the right sensor will clear the fault code and bringthe car back to normal :) To reset you can use vagcom or any other car diagnostic reader

There was a problem with one of the sensor's in the early days, which should have been sorted under warranty [ problem right across the VAG group 56 - 58 plates] you dont say what year your car is -PD I assume?? mine failed just after a service on the ramps!! and was fixed FOC. Im sure if you search on here you should find the answer has to which sensor it was . .................................

All sorted! as suspected, was a dodgy sensor! Got a new sensor fitted, forced regen and a cpu update and the cars running like a dream! Spent ages researching the fault and phoning various places but ended up taking it back to the Seat garage i got it and they were pretty reasonable. Got the car back after about 2 hours and it had even been washed and hoovered. I've seen the sensor myself and it would be pretty easy to fit a new one at home but unless you've got your own software you wont be able to get it out of limp mode without a forced regen.
