A Bit of Advice

Hi,

Im after a bit of advice, well probably reassurance really,

I have found a 04 plate leon TDI 150 Cupra, it has a full service history with cam belt changes at the right time, receipts of all work done to it, and it up for 3995.

However it does have 157000 on the clock but is immaculate inside and out

My question is really is this good value for money and is it going to last, I have driven it and it drives great appears to have ben well looked after, but its a lot of miles

Thanks

Pete

i personally wouldnt buy a car with that mileage but thats becasue im thinking about resale value, suppose if your buying to keep for a good few years or run it into the ground then you will get your moneys worth

To be honest mate its luck of the draw, you might buy this one with 157k on the clock for £4000 and have no problems. Then again you might buy one for £8000 with 60k on the clock and have fault after fault after fault.

Get someone who knows what they are looking for to go and have a drive in it with you and check it over.

MJ thats very true you could buy a goat that has less miles on the clock,

I wont be looking to make any money from it, my budget is only 4k because i cant get a bank to lend me any money because i dont have an account with them, and my main bank has stopped giving out loans to anyone, its a very annoying situation.

So not may leon TDI 150 come up for this price but having driven a couple now i love them, im looking to keep it a couple of years then hopefully by then i can get lent some money. So hopefully i can get 800-900 quid for it in a couple of years when its likely to have 190,000 on it. thats all i would get for the car i currently have so i wont lose out too much.

how are u paying ?

loan 3 yr? bit dodge needs to last

how many miles r u gonna do in it?50 - 60k ova 3 yr?

I got mine wrong as : - got at 52k at £5,500 7K loan 4 yrs! been 3 yr now and im at 103K that 16-17K a year and the car is now worth 2.5 ish! loan ends in Aug should be 112K and worth 2K hopefully!

If I had done a smaller loan and ova 2 or even 3 yr Id have paid here off and could sell her now for a bit more!

I have no idea what I am doing but there must be some kind of logic in the above.........

Hi Allh2k

No im paying for it by trading in my car i currently have and a bit of cash on top, i have a loan on my current car which i will leave running and so as such carry over to this car,

the loan is at £3500 with 3 years left.

Keep the car for two years, which will leave about 1k on the loan.

Will do about 35k miles over the two years so will be pushing 200k on the clock.

Maybe it will be worth 800 quid leaving me only a couple of hundred quid short.

I reckon i can get it for 3750.

Your not looking to sell yours now are you

some may say lala land....
depends on how mileage done as well.
can be better to buy high motorway-rep than low granny-to-shops

as long as all services done & cambelt all done whn they should be, you should be ok.

and again, depends on how long going to keep it for

Thanks for all the advice, i will probably only keep it a couple of years, but i think i will wait and see if anything else comes up, the price is too much for the miles it has done i think
