Hi guys

This is my first post here, just bought a new ST Cupra 280 with DSG, will pick it up from the dealer (un-seen) later this week (exited! :)).

I was curious to how the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) works in stop & go traffic

Will the car stop and then start moving again by itself?

I saw the video on youtube for the same system in the MK7 Golf and it does stop & go automatically (assuming DSG gearbox ofcourse), but the Seat video does not show this specific feature.

Golf ACC Youtube URL: /watch?v=gbLNCQt2aS8

Cheers

Welcome to the Forum!

Co-incidentally I've just picked up my new ST Cupra DSG on Saturday - see my report here:

The car almost drives itself - uncanny how the adaptive cruise control and front assist smoothly brake the car when necessary and then accelerates back again! Haven't actually tested it down to stationery and back, but no reason to suppose it is any different to the VW Golf.

What colour and spec are you getting?

Hey!

Thanks for your feedback, picking up a new nice car is easily one of the best moments in life! :)

You car looks great, love the red color!

I would have put on a lot of extras if I ordered one from scratch (pano roof, bucket seats, all the gadgets etc) but I got such a great deal on a car in stock that I could'nt pass on. Also the fact I dont need to wait until Nov for delivery was another factor.

The car is a basic spec with dark gray metallic, adaptive cruise, seat sound and park sensors front and back. The base Cupra has a lot of options on it so overall its still a well equipped car :) The gray paint looks much better in person than on pics, it really has a nice depth to it! Goes very nicely with the wheels as well in the same accent color.

Also its my second car (I have a red Porsche 997 GT3 for the weekends and sunny days to work) so I found it hard to motivate speccing the Cupra too much :)

Really looking forward to picking the car up, still havent got the day confirmed. Will call the dealer now to confirm the contract and pickup day.

Enjoy your red beauty!

Cheers

I've found that if I actually stop for more than a second or two, it ask me to apply the brake. Then you've got to set it going again. Not really worth the hassle in stop/start traffic but immense on the motorway !!

Ok, thanks for the heads up!

That is what I thought and what I heard from a colleauge of mine who has I assume the same system on his VW Passat.

Would be nice to automate the start, stop, start, stop etc etc in really slow traffic, but I guess the DSG makes it simple enough to deal with that (used to manual cars recently). Should be good in slow moving traffic though which is more frequent where I live.

Cheers

I love the Adaptive cruise control, with the manual gearbox it still lets you change up and down so maybe it could work in traffic but not stop start as I'm pretty sure it needs a minimum speed to stay on.

Might sound daft but is there an easy way of telling if you have normal cruise or adaptive?

2 easy ways.

1. Seperate cruise control stalk underneath indicators
2. The sensor unit in the front grille under the number plate

You also have the separate cruise control stalk if you have lane assist (that's what my car has).
The sensor unit is the only way to be sure and it is obvious...

With ACC and lane assist you really do have a self driving car (for a few seconds - before it commands you to take control of the wheel again)
