I have just back home after a very entertaining drive

My 96 1.4 will only go into 1st.2nd gear and reverse.
Can't move the stick over to the right.

There has been a whining noise the past few weeks when i release the accelerator pedal and under acceleration and a general whine when driving. And a grind like noise when pressing the clutch pedal in
Any idea's as to what's causing this?

When I take it out of gear and coast there is no noise
Thought it may be the gearbox on it’s way out again? Or maybe summat to do with clutch? Thrust bearing?

Clutching at straws here guys and ideas welcome.

Oh and to top it of F2 spoiler was ripped of in Telford on the 2nd Jan :censored:

Good old start to the year.

Do you have any gearbox oil in it?

Sounds like a bearing is going too - hence grindy noise - mine did it for all 70k I had it... started at 50k whenI bought it.

lo,

Gearbox oil was checked about 2 weeks ago and was ok

I had this gearbox fitted just over a year ago with a new clutch.

when you say about the bearing going, is this in the gearbox or something to do with the clutch, as a while back when the car was idle it used to make a grinding noise, and when you pressed the clutch down slightly it went until foot lifted of again.

Had to keep adjusting the clutch cable until the noise went.

Can’t understand why it just stopped going into gear as it was fine when I pulled up and when I went to go again, it didn’t wanna play
