Air-Con - Service, or just a re-gas??

I've had my Leon 3 years now, and I've never had the aircon regassed.

I know it needs doing as it's not that cold now, and having been in another car with clearly better aircon than mine, I know mine needs doing!

The question is...do I just need a re-gas, or does it need a 'service', if you can even get them serviced...

The reason I ask is the aircon stinks of damp. Not sure if this is just due to it not being efficient, or if I need to replace a certain filter or something.

Can anyone help?

Thanks :)

replace the pollen filter, use a decontamination treatment then get it regassed.

Hmmm, didn't realise it was something you could do yourself! Just seen a can of air-con cleaner on Halfrauds. Do they do the job?

forte air con bombs are the better option. All you need do is replace the pollen filter then set the bomb off in a sealed car (doors and windows closed) with the A/C on recirculation.
leave it running for half an hour and the chemicals will find their way to the condenser and kill any bacteria on it.

Thanks MJ... would this be one of the 'bombs' you speak of?
