Hi all

My 2006 Altea has an issue where the airbag light is always on. The London based garage guys reckon it's an issue with the side driver side airbag sensor and they reset this for me on the last service for a nominal fee ... but it came back on. This time round they are advising this light will mean the MOT will fail and have quoted £300 to repair !

Is anyone able to advise on if this is the going rate for this kind of work as it seems excessive to me.

Further, I'm looking to get a VAG Com cable/reset unit of ebay - if anyone can recommend one that would also be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I've got the pro scan and its brill its about 40 quid that's wat u want. As for ur airbag light it's an easy fix to do ur self under the seat of the airbag fault there is a connection block that is the sensor it gets moisture in and trips it u need to cut the block out and rejoin the wires. Job done all sorted. It's a common fault and if u google it under vag side airbag fault there is lots of guides how to do it

Hi mate,

Thanks for the response. Do you have a link to the 'pro scan' ? I'm not that much of a handyman so the reset approach has to be my first route.

Hmm ... found one on fleabay but can't post the link here.

I'll mail the seller to make sure it will work for a 2006 model
