At home
I've got the lovely pleasure of driving the missus and some of her family to Manchester airport this weekend because she's off on holiday for a week (before you ask I get to stay at home and look after the dog :))

Anyway my question is this, what is the Leon like for packing suitcases in? I'll be taking 4 people in total so will need to accommodate them and their luggage, is this realistic or am I expecting too much from her?

There won't be room on the back seats for anything obviously as people will be using all the back seats so whatever comes along will need to go in the boot, I'm just a little worried it won't all go in and I may need to call in the old mans Focus estate for the job.

Thoughts/experiences very welcome :)

I would say yes 4 average size cases should fit in ok, it's just putting them in right way to make the most of the room that could be a challenge.

I've played Tetris before ;)

That's really helpful though mate thank you, sounds like it might fit then, providing nobody brings enough clothes for a 2 month holiday lol

So you've got some experience then, lol

Depends on how many women you're taking then, as they usually pack everything and can never close the suitcases.

You thinking it won't fit m0rk?

If it looks like it won't fit I'll have to use the backup Focus, just trying to get a feeling for it so I can make sure I can borrow the Ford if needs be.

3 women 1 bloke, hmmm yeah I am getting worried now actually, should have bought a roof rack lol.

Depends how far you have to travel, and what a 'normal' suitcase is

All I know is our Leon boot looks big until you start putting things in it! Two on their side, and one 'upright' is my bet, and three cosy people across the back

Devils advocate, why not just let them drive themselves to the airport & park in long stay parking? :)

Hmm, I can see me making a phone call to my old man in a minute to get the Focus on stand by lol.

Unfortunately the drive themselves to the airport bit kind of hit's a brick wall as none of them are able to drive.

Edit - travel time isn't too long, Manchester airport is probably an hour away traffic permitting.

Then the next week is the ideal opportunity to find somewhere else to live, far far away from these heathens.

 two of them are in the RAF so don't have any urgent need to drive and the other is the mother, who basically is at the stage of life where she has done without driving for so many years it's not worth starting to learn now as she doesn't really go anywhere to warrant it (this will be the first time she's ever been abroad).

Edit - I don't mind doing the taxi run but would prefer to go in my car rather than the Focus, however if it's not realistically going to fit in the Leon I don't have much choice I guess.

Think I might have a trial run with the suitcase the wife is going to use and see if it looks like there will be space for another 3, Focus is looking like a sure thing at the moment lol

Having thought about it yeah, would have been easier to have gone in mine but from what you guys have said it sounds like it would be a struggle at best.

Phone call going in now lol
