Has anyone heard of Alloy Gaiters? I'm told they are protective strips that are applied to the rims of Alloys to protect them.

Anyone use them? Good/Bad reports welcome.

I've been looking at these for a while. Seen various reviews and Youtube videos and people seem to swear by them or hate them. You read about them coming off whilst driving etc, can't really see how that would happen if fitted properly.

I actually bought a set to put on my FR when it arrived but ended up not using them and selling them on at a loss.

I spoke to the guys that refurbed my wheels on my ST asking if they would fit a set for me, they said they would and they had done in the past but know people have had all sorts of problems with them.

The worst I read about was a guy that had them on his scooby, he had been driving along and all of a sudden heard a scratching noise while on the motorway, pulled over to find that the gator had half come off his front passenger wheel and had been whipping the arch behind the wheel, made a right mess (He posted loads of pics on the forum at the time) and that was the final thing I had to see to be put off.....

Thanks Zombie

More of less made up my mind to give them a miss. Sounds as if the damaged they could potentially cause could cost more than a wheel refurb!!!

Best be careful driving...

I had no idea that you get a product like the alloy gaitor but I once had a open top tourer with a snake leather dashboard, perhaps my speedo wrap was a croco dial?
