Altea dashboard out

Good afternoon to everyone.

I've just joined as a member but have had my Altea 2.0TDi Sport since new. She's an early 2005. Back end of last year she developed a water leak on passenger side in far left of footwell.

With a hose and running water it seemed to coming in via pollen filter at base of screen and falling through heater box inside the car. It was left with local garage whilst me and family went away, one job was to find and cure the leak.

Went to pick up last week and fan is blowing but nothing coming from vents, garage is now half way through trying to remove dashboard to get to heater box and trace the leak.

Problem there having right now is trying to remove steering wheel without getting airbag issues. wheel has to come off to remove dash. Not me doing the job i know but would have done given the time and a garage to work in. Has anyone any experience with Altea wheel and dash removal.

yeah you just use a small flat blade screwdriver to flick the stainless clips back and the bag will just pop off, if they turn the ignition on with it removed then it will log a fault code.

Thanks for reply, dashboard issue sorted. Ended up asking one of the Seat Techs to come to the garage and remove the airbag unit off the wheel. Just got to cure the water issue and sort the heater unit out.
