Hi all

I'm a newbie Altea XL owner and am getting to grips with the CUP and using it with the steering wheel controls and head unit browsing.

I've bought a combined Y cable from Amazon which works fine Most of the time with an iPhone 4, but my hope was to attach an old iPod Nano 2nd gen which I had knocking around, but it seems to have trouble recognising the iPod and most of the time just recognises that the AUX input is connected. For some reason it's connected a couple of times successfully but I've not managed the other times I've tried.

Is there a compatibility issue with certain iPod types? Could it be the CUP that is being unreliable? Or is it just a dodgy cable?

Anyone else had issues with certain iPod types not working??

Problem solved. There is a very particular order to how you should plug these devices in. For anyone interested, it goes thus:

Plug in cable 3.5mm jack.

Wait 10 seconds.

Plug in cable USB.

Wait 10 seconds.

Turn on car ignition.

Turn on head unit and select Media.

Wait for head unit display to show AUX (it will say "Loading Media" for a while).

Plug iPod/iPhone into cable.

I have problem with using my media-in usb port...I just want to connect a regular USB stick with mp3 songs on it and when I press MEDIA button on the radio I only get no media..Why is this happening? Should it be able to read usb stick normally?

Yeah but do you have to do all that each time you want to use the ipod?

Yes. Luckily I have an old iPod Nano that I can leave plugged in.

As for the USB stick I don't seem to have that problem. Have you made sure it's formatted properly? I think it has to be fat32.

It's formated as NTFS, I'll try FAT32... will let you know

I have just tried it with FAT32 and it's still not working...And when I plug my iphone trough USB port it is getting charged so there is a electricity in it but not playing anything...Please guys provide me with some help....

Hmmm, my solution seems to have failed. The connection is really unreliable. I think I'll get a cheap USB stick and use that instead.

Got a replacement cable from the supplier which works fine. All good now.

Hi, I have the same problem. I have bought the cable but everytime I connect my iphone it says something that my device is not correct?? :wtf:

Anyway, how do you exactly use it? how do you set it?
