Ive found a guide online about replacing the alternator pulley, ive sourced a 33 spine nut for the alternator online (amazon) for helping me to remove the pulley,

But Ive got a bit of a mad question about the belt tensioner which the garage replaced, ive learned I need to lock it in place to loosen the belt, but I do not have a locking kit for the tensioner so I was wondering if it is a good idea to get a small enough screw driver to ram in and lock it into place whilst I remove the the pulley?

Or should I get the kit and hand it over to the garage?

Coz them gits want to replace the alternator for £250 and I'm not forking that out if there is a quicker, easier way to do it.
They just done me £90 to replace and fit the belt tensioner.

Also is there any guides online here with a few pics.

Cheers in advance.

You can use a strong drill bit to lock it. Done it loads of times. There is a lug on top of the tensioner, use a spanner to pull it towards you and then slip the drill bit in.

Never removed the pulley itself, so can't comment on that sorry.

As mentioned you can use a drill bit, I think it's 5mm but don't quite me on that.
With this said unless it's of a decent quality then I'd personally rather use an allen key as drill bits can be too brittle and these tensioners are pretty ferocious when under load.
To pull it back use a 16mm open end spanner on the providing lug.

In regards of the clutched pulley wheel there's a couple of options to remove it...

In situ, with this way you'll need the pass through spline or torx bit along with the 33t remover tool.
Some alternators have T50 whilst others have a M10 shaft to hold onto.
They're generally ****ing tight so wear some gloves and use a decent 1/2 ratchet or breaker bar along with a quality ring spanner around 33t tool.
I've lost far too much knuckle skin doing these when they finally give!

The other option is to completely remove the alternator, which really isn't difficult and to get someone to whizz the pulley off using an impact gun.
I've also used this way when I had one I physically couldn't do by hand.

Thanks for the help, Could anyone send me a link to the spline tool I will need to remove the alternator, ive got the 33 spline nut, but not the part that goes through the middle of it.

I'm happy as long it ain't a link to Ebay. ive been put off by to many bad dealings.

Sorted now,

Car has all its torque returned.

Bad news is now tho, the wife after taking kids to a party has returned home and she tells me the central locking is not working. ffs!

Ive tried both sets of keys, the batterys in them are still fine. so I'm thinking **** to it. just have to deal with locking and unlocking manually.

More than likely due to the door locking mechanism failing in the drivers door.
