 Not happy at all with the service from them.

Took LCR for a service on Friday, also to look into the usual fan speed problem and a cold start tappet rattle. Picked up car later that afternoon to find that they diagnosed no problem with the fans or no reason for a rattle on cold start, apart from a low oil level (which was at maximum on the Thursday). Got fed bullshit excuse on fan operation being OK and i was wrong. Spoke to them again this morning to be told that i was speaking rubbish and that my car is right. Just because something works differently to another LCR does not mean mine has broken. Very abrupt manner by their tech on the phone.

Obviously the customer is not always right!:censored:

Steve - Cheers for your replies mate, but the fans are the exact problem that a lot of the people on here have had. Even with a cold engine, with the aircon compressor running, the fans give short blasts of high speed, with no constant low speed running. With the compressor off, the fans don't run at all until engine temp requires them too, when they blast straight onto high speed. So it's the aircon related fan problem, not an engine temp one.

As for the rattle, i've heard the carbon canister tap when ticking over before and this is a lot louder. Almost 100% is a slow filling bucket from the noise.

Cheers anyway!

You are Right mate. turn car on even from cold with climate on. Short bursts of high speed fan and then it stops. It is the low speed fans that are F*****. Had mine all replaced under warranty awhile back. It drove me mad! Get it done under warranty ie if under 3yrs....go to another Seat Dealer? Good Luck

After finally getting the fans sorted with another dealer, i can whole-heartedly not recommend the customer service at Amethyst.

I CAN, however, highly commend the guys at Listers SEAT in Coventry, for spot on diagnosis and repair of the problem, and great customer service.....just a shame the courtesy car was a 3 cylinder 1.2 Ibiza!

Had this problem with th dealer saying this faulty fan operation was normal. After a bit of persuasion they sorted it.

Why don't they learn? This fault is a common problem on lots of VAG group cars.

i've had numerous dealings with Amethyst Seat sadly not all good...

buying the car..they were more than spot on, Rob sorted out a cracking deal, and was generally a star...

..since then...

ordered a touch up pen....took 7 months to arrive..and looks to be colour match even stevie wonder would question.

then had a creaking from the suspension...so back in under warranty for that to be sorted.... no word of apology that the bushes were fitted incorrectly.

Also mentioned at the same time having intermittant issues with the gearbox refusing to go in 2nd gear at times...dropped it of... went back and was told i was now liable for a £40 investigation charge....as apparently they couldnt find any fault, hence it being intermittant!!!

...then the rear wash squirty thing stopped working...so booked it in....was told it would be 45 mins.... walked into town....45mins later returned...car still where it was....still not worked on

the level of aftersale customer service offered by Amethyst is beyond poor, granted they sell their cars very well...but their ability to follow this up is negligible

my cars now due a 10k and also annual service... £190 at Amethyst!... local supercar specialists in Andoversford will do it for £130 using all genuine parts.

i think i know how i'll be paying!

im in the motor trade and i dread ringing them up

they rang me today :) seems the new or recent boss didn't find much of this helpful upon reading and has expressed a few opinions with reference to other complaints, but thats a whole other story.

if you are reading this now then look up a bit as badtastebear? is singing your praises so it's not all bad

as I explained earlier cannot obviously please everybody wether they are right or wrong and in doing so most people will only shout out about the bad rather than good, it's human nature,

all i can offer is what i explained earlier - sign up (it's free) and feel free to join in others have in the past there's always 2 sides to a story and everyone is human and as such not perfect but when the some people post up an achieved level of satisfaction elsewhere at another dealers/franchise then certain issues possibly need addressing or simply some levels may just not be achievable full stop.

for every 1 bad comment there are always 10 good ones that go unspoken and i for one not only sympathize with that but actually know what its like to try and keep 100% of customers happy 100% of the time - it's virtually impossible

BUT i find that if i show i am willing to at least try to gain 100% then most customers will give me the benefit of the doubt. it's always worth a try.

and flapper i've seen your car around judging by the description! cant miss mine.... :)
cant miss mine - just ignore my wheels for a few weeks and yes it needs a clean - give us a beep though

i'm sure i followed yours down past B&Q few weekends ago ??
