I have a Seat Leon MK1 1.8 20V SE 2001(Y-REG).
Around 3 weeks ago I the RAC out to a break down car mis-fireing i was holding the pedal flat and getting no RPM they thought it was the ALTERNATOR gone but after getting it towed home and looking in the morning the MAIN Wire going from Alternator area to the fuse box next to the battery the fuse had BLOWN the cable is black but live and the fuse looks like a metal bar with 10mm nut's on each end this had burnt out i bypassed it to the next fuse and the car ran fine,
3 weeks later the fuse is not blown and still bypassed the car has been running sweet i have noticed the wire i bypassed is a little warmer then the rest but how ever i done 100 miles parked up woke up the next day to a non starter the RAC game me the P0688 code and told me it would be a RELAY Issue, Since then if i tap the dash the car will start and keep running once turned off by the key it will not start im unsure if tappin the dash is just luck or has anything to do with the problem I changed a relay box that controls the fuel pump No 409 1J0906383B 898003000, and this did not resolve the issue I have the bar fuse from the scrap yard so under the bonnet is back to normal, Dose anyone know what relay and fuse i should be checking?
