Currently have a neuspeed induction fitted but missing the low end grunt, and not liking the high pitched whistle. But I am wanting to go stage 2 eventually. Will a panel filter hold my car back a lot after stage 2?

Would rather have a bit less power but with more responsiveness overall. Its for a BWA engine Mk5 GTI

yes i think a panel filter will hold you back but not by too much, the turbo will be the largest factor holding you back on a ko3.

You could always go get an enclosed system, less noise and heatsoak, but you'll have to do a search to see which one is still the best these days, used to be ITG but that couldve changed for all i know

I think its the urgency of the standard airbox I miss the most I guess, felt a lot more lively than the intake. But the screech up the revs is just embarrassing. I guess with an enclosed filter i'll still lose the low end grunt?

anybody considered a water/methonal injection kit to reduce inlet temps?

Should be able to get a kit cheaper than a £300+ bit of of pipe n filter and see some real gains

Guys, correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the turbo compress the air anyway, so it doesn't matter about heatsoak as the turbo heats up the air that it sucks in, as well as compressing it.

It's the intercoolers job to cool down the hot air coming from the turbo.

better off keeping it for when I further tune then, just need a heat shield for the filter head, any advice to get rid of the high pitched whistle?

well you could drown it out with a humungous hole of an exhaust, or try and improve the sound insulation to your bonnet.

Have a look at your weather srip in your bonnet, most people with cai's remove it for increased airflow but replacing it if its knackered will stop some noise filtering through.

Also have a look at the state of your bonnet insulation, it may also need replacing but it is also the very easiest thing to sound proof, given the ease it should come off.

hopefully my catless 3" downpipe will drown out the noise abit, going to re shape my engine cover so it can go back on aswel which should help. Will changing the filter to one of the others make a difference i.e ITG or Ramair
