Ateca windscreen prone to stone chips??

Hi,
I’ve faced the same fate
, cracked top to bottom. Had it replaced with original windscreen.
Long story short, I received the car on May 20.
On October 2020, when I was driving on the motorway, with super low traffic condition, I’ve heard a knock on the windscreen. The knock was so loud, that I’ve freaked out a bit. I’ve examined the windscreen, but could not see any visible damage. Then, two days later, I see this:
I occasionally, hear a super loud stone knock on the windscreen.
Even at low speeds, the stone knock sounds like it cracked the windscreen.
No car I ever owned was hit by so many stones, so I guess it is prone to stone chips.
Maybe it is due to the windscreen angel.

Wife's on her second Ateca lease so 4th year of owning one, motorway driving every weekday, not had an issue yet (touch wood).

That is reassuring but from the other post above from yanivkoval it may an issue or is it just coincidental. Be interesting to see if any others have had issue.
Pure coincidence allied to worsening road surfaces as a result of decreasing maintenance. Way more potholes than 5 years ago, way more patching instead of proper resurfacing.
Possibly the heat of Israel for @yanivkoval putting pressure on the glass ?. The bangs I get are from stones flying up by passing cars. My old ZX had about three cracks in ten years. Wasn't good with stone chips, just cracked
I got the old fashioned wired heated windscreen in my Ateca so not a like for like, apart from a small chip which hasn't developed (about two years on that) all has been good for 4.5 years on cracks. Fingers crossed.

Think ACC buzzing cars too close from behind is also a cause with ACC. You know when cars are locked onto each other following silly distances.
No issues for me (touch wood). I'd be surprised if there was a known issue as this is the first I've heard of any potential issues.
So I was reading through this thread a couple of weeks ago and thinking what are the chances this will happen to my Ateca. Well a couple of days ago returning back from Portsmouth was on the A3(M) and have a similar story to tell. Heard a loud knock on the windscreen and when I stopped at the services saw a fairly large ~35mm chip on the lower part of the windscreen around the dark area near the wipers. Asked around on Cupra groups on Facebook and seems it will need a complete replacement along with the ADAC calibration. Tough luck as I’ve had multiple cars before this and never had a similar issue.. aah well, have booked with National windscreens for a replacement and calibration in a few weeks time. Fingers crossed it doesn’t turn into a full blown crack like the one discussed above
Having read about multiple similar experiences from other Ateca and Cupra Ateca owners not sure if this is due to the angle of the windscreen and/or the material of the glass or just plain ol’ shitty luck

Sorry to hear that you have had that bad luck. Your comments chime with my thoughts. Is it windscreen angle or something. Oddly enough since my original cracked windscreen I have had another stone hit. Just a tiny mark like an insect hit this time. Does make me wonder as Driven cars length of UK for decades with no issues.

Before all the lockdown malarkey I had a stone kicked up from a car in front on a dual carriageway chip the screen, and at the time my car wasn't even on 1k miles, luckily it was repairable and fixed on my insurance as a free repair.
I have been driving for 35 years, and this was the first window I have had chipped.
Maybe just bad luck, and worsening roads, who knows ?

It has happened again just a minor chip below drivers line of sight so might just ignore. Must have been big stone as ding on bonnet which I assume took impact if same incident.
Anybody have a view on whether to repair or leave as the cost for ding looks like £138 on the Seat list. Assume it will cost more to have repair shop do it?

Locally you may find a paint workshop but that won't be the Seat approved one probably. Before moving out of London I picked up about six bits of vandalism aping the Seat commercials of the car at the time. First keyed one cost £600 to remove at an approved Seat paint shop. The rest I left till I moved. About half price if not a Seat approved warranty repair. The local Seat dealer was very good at suggesting one. Probably hedgerow scratches locally not feral kids. If it's your own vehicle it's a bit immaterial whether it's an approved warranty repair, probably not if when the car is returned they go over it with a tooth comb which I understand they do. Probably the feral kids objective to achieve a financial hit to owners of new cars. Free of such rubbish now for three years... one of the joys of not living in urban areas.
Based on what I have read elsewhere and and this forum I am thinking of just leaving the bonnet ding as the end of lease cost is £138 for panel repair and not sure if worth finding a local workshop to do a good repair that will not be picked up by the BCA inspection as not satisfactory with additional charge.
I thought that was your financial hit figure. It's those that the kids maximise for instant gratification + the angst of driving around with a damaged car. Probably worth leaving that.
I don't think you would street park a Cupra that would definitely be asking for trouble.
