Quick one...

My Leon has the convenience pack which includes the dimming rear view mirror. I must admit that although the lights from car behind dont seem to dazzle if the mirror is dimming its very subtle.

When the car was in for a service recently the courtesy car they gave me (Ibiza) had a dimming mirror also and there was a green light on the bottom of the mirror (small square light in the rim of the mirror plastics)... my Leon doesnt ever have this light illuminate.

I'm starting to think that the dimming function isnt working... any thoughts !?

Dumb question, so forgive me in advance, but is yours switched on? Got little buttons under the mirror if I remember correctly.

Mine is very obvious when it's working as car headlights look green in it.

Now i feel like a right tw*t...lol

Just popped out to the car... i can honestly say hand on heart that i have never noticed the big on / off button on the base of the mirror before... quick press of the button and on comes the green LED !

Anyway... thanks for the replies guys

I had a Peugeot hire car years ago which had a dimming mirror but it went so dark that in all but the most extreme dazzling it made it difficult to actually see what was behind you. I often switched that one off but the button was on the front of the plastics and easy to see.

The green LED on the Leon has never been on so this one has been switched off since i got the car (its now almost 2 years old)... considering how much attention i pay the car from a cleaning point of view you'd expect me to have noticed the button before... its pretty obvious once you see it !

It's easily missed. I didn't realise you could switch it off until I found the button when adjusting the mirror. I'd assumed the dimming function was permanently on.

Nice feature included as part of the auto-dimming mirror is the gearknob illumination.

It's really subtle, but there's an extra LED on the base of the mirror, in red, which casts a gentle glow down on the gearstick to help you find it in the dark...

lol I saw this post yesterday and i was like nah i aint got a button what are they on about, and yes I have button, but as i have tinted the rears it made no difference if i turn it on or off, so kinda wasted that feature havent i :)

Random fact - the auto dimming function is disabled automatically when you put the car in reverse gear :)
