Hello.

I know theres a good chance this has been brought up on here before, but looking around I can' quite find what I'm looking for. I have recently bought a Leon FR TDI 150, and it has the original CD stereo in it, which I would like to retain.

I am looking to be able to use my iPod to play music through it, and as it doesn't have a CD changer, was looking to use one of the Connect 2 adapters. (CTVSTX001 I think)

Question.
Is the wire that would connect the stereo to the 6 disc changer part of the standard loom of the car that I'm going to have to dig around and find, or is it an extra loom which I will need to purchase from elsewhere. If it is an additional loom, does anybody know the best place to get them from?

When this is fitted is it just a case of plugging in the adaptor in the link above and tidying it away in the glovebox for example?

Thanks in advance

Howard :)

Not sure about whether the CD head unit has the socket for the changer, I would guess that it does as the changer is always an optional extra, easy way to find out is to pull out the head unit and have a look, if theres a big empty socket theres a fair chance its for the changer (I think all the sockets were used on mine).

Yeah after its in you can route it wherever you want. I stuck the box thing up the back of the console and took the aux in cable out through into the space infront of the gear stick below the ashtray. you could route it through the ashtray too if you wanted to be able to hide the cable when not in use.

So assuming my CD head unit has the socket for the CD changer on the back, does the Connect2 adapter plug straight into that socket, or is the cable that would join the radio to the changer required.

Yeah it just plugs straight into the changer socket. You get a different connects2 that has the proper ipod connector that charges your ipod too, I didnt realise that till after I got my aux in one. Theres also one that connects through the ariel rather than the cd changer port so if you dont have a cd changer port you could get that one. It works like those fm transmitters you can get but the sound quality is better as it is a wired connection.

The cd player has been out in the past looking at the state of the trim panels around it! It also has a button on the headunit for CD6 so has either had one or it's a standard button. Also, is it possible to connect a sub to a standard stereo headunit?

The sub I have from my old car is active I believe. Just has red and white phono leads going to it with power and ignition feed.

On the back of my stereo having had it out, there are 3 connectors on one side and the aerial on the other side. The bottom two have connectors in, but the top one has nothing.

Is this the connecter which allows a 6CD changer to be connected, therefore allow me to use a Connects2 adaptor in it?

I would have posted a picture but I haven't had 15 posts yet!
