Hi wolf359
You need a Connects2 aux input adaptor - useon my my Toledo head unit and it works fine - it plugs into CD changer port and you select it with CD button, one push for unit CD drive, second push for CD changer port.
Can't remember the part no. though may be able to find it later, but it's the same unit for Mk5 Golf head unit.
Cheers,
John.

Hi Mark,
Mine is Dec 2005 (55 plate) but I am sure you will find the radio is the same through the time, wheter std type or MP3 + BT like mine.
The CD changer port is mini quadlock type connector - now found the partno. for the adaptor VVGX004.
It's very easy to fit - pull out radio, plug in adaptor lead to CD port, plug other end of lead into adaptor box. Connect black wire on adaptor lead to earth (I used a radio casescrew for this). A audio input cable with 3.5mm stereo plug is supplied to connect to your audiodevice.
I found space abit tight at the rear of the radio, but you can tuck it behind the dash moulding, I wrapped the box in foam to stop it rattling as it wasn't possible to fix it toanything. If you have problems getting one of these, let me know as I know where to get them, but don't have the contact details today at home.

Hi Mark,
Connects2 website is out of date - they didn't know if this part worked with Altea/Toldeo head unit so I bought one to try and obviously it does!
I did let them know so that they could sell more of them, but they are pretty dis-organised!

Anyway, it is dead easy, hardest part is positioning the adaptor box behind dash so radio goes back in.

Thanks to Jennings Seat for info on 2007 model - that's good news for new Altea/Toledo and I guess Leon owners.

Cheers,
John.

"I have checked the connects 2 web site and found the part No , but is not listed as for the altea which is strange ?"

That is like when I was looking for the Connect2 box for my MD Changer that I wanted Halfords to fit, they had the MD changer in for about six months for me but couldn't source the part and the folks here said if it will fit the Golf V, Tourget etc then it's the kit for the Altea. Three months on of periodic Googling I made the break through and found the part number. That threads here some where which is the part number for a Connect2 to Sony CD / MD / HD changer.

It seems that the Connect2 site isn't too hot about listing the Altea you just have to know that it's the same headend connection as all recent Golf's including the Golf V and look for that.

Thanks for the help Tell, Jt gave me the connects part no so i will just order the part from halfords and have a go at fitting it myself, whick will be another story as i never even changed a car stereo. Chers guys

Extracting the head end is pretty simple although I've only watch people do it, who use the thin metal strips that sometimes get sold with card radios. You push in the four tabs and pull forwards. You might be able to using parcel plastic straps in their place to push the four tabs in along the edge, perhaps.

In relation to what to do with the lead, you should be able to get it out the back somehow. Perhaps plead ignorance and get Halfords to do it. The Halfords guys did manage to get the leads of my MD change under the carpet from the front of the car to back and also scratched the gear shift with the headend dangling in the process. If one was doing it oneself one would not have scratched gear shift... Perhaps some kind person will tell you how to get the carpet away so you can get the lead out under the dash ?.
