Hi All,

After a couple of years off after regretfully selling my Leon Cupra R 225 to fund a house purchase im now back in a Leon. I've kept with the mk1 theme but this time powered by the black stuff being a Cupra TDI 150. It has 1 previous owner and cost me less than a fifth of what the R went for 3 years back which i was really chuffed with. Overall it should clean up nicely but could do with a few dents taken out and a pro detailers magic on some cat scratches on the bonnet. Mechanically it feels pretty sound boosting nicely with a slick gearbox. Its done 88k, never had a new clutch, but has had timing belt/water pump recently and all the usual annual maintenance.

If anyone has any tips for maintenance or tuning for the TDI i'm all ears. In my first week of ownership i tried to research a few bits and read some horror stories related to EGR's and chocolate camshafts - hoping i havent got myself into trouble here!

Not sure yet on the direction for the car yet, firstly i want to get cleaned up and checked over
and then i'll have a think if its worth a few mods to make it a long term member of the fleet.

And finally why not a plug for the old beast i used to run

Adam

Very minor update today having just fitted a Fabia Estate rear wiper remembering how much cleaner it looked on my LCR. I went cheap though and got one on ebay for £8. Might turn out to be a false economy as it definitely isnt as solid as the original with more plastic used than metal. Also rather than a splined shaft to match the wiper motor shaft it was completely smooth and made of copper but then maybe that means its smooth enough deform as its tightened up?

the obligatory pics as always even if everyone's seen one before :)

Its in need of a clean and looking at the photo i think its crying out for a de badge so that's next on the list

As for future mods they will have to wait till i've sorted out a service as id like to get oil, filters, brake fluid, EGR clean and gearbox oil changed as it probably hasnt been looked at since it was filled from the factory. Then i'd like to do the following;
  1. Cupra R or other motorsport inspired alloys
  2. Suspension kit to lower and also hopefully improve the ride as it is overly harsh
  3. Brake pad upgrade and caliper painting (probably black as im unlikely to go for the full LCR kit)
  4. Cupra R front bumper resprayed in Black Magic
  5. Milltek exhaust
