Does anyone have roof bars or a bike carrier on their mk3 Ibiza??

Just getting back into moutain biking so need some way of transporting my bike around. Tried it in the back with the seats down (well as far as they would go) and it's still a very tight fit even with the front wheel off.

just been told i can fold the seats flat, doh! I'll have another look 2nite. Front wheel is definately being taken off. Any problem with keep removing it though with front disc brakes?? Been told it can cause problems with pad wear??

IIRC they are available on the Seat Accesories site.

To put the seats down, you need to lift the lower section of the back seats, from the front, and then tuck that down the back of the front seats. Then remove the rear headrests, and push the backs down then.

Should be able to fit a bike in there no probs.

Funnily im just getting back into MTB aswell!!

Nice one Forbez, Which bikes are you looking at?? I've jut picked up a Giant XTC LX (electric windows and aircon ;)
RRP is £625 but got it for £480 in the sale. Spent another £100 or so on accessories, shorts, multi-tool, spares, helmet, crud catchers etc.

I live really close to Sherwood forest so there's lots of purpose built trails/tracks. You must have loads to choose from in S-Wales.

Removing the back wheel will get it in flat easily.

Only problem you might have if you're tall is it will foul the rear turrets

Or do what I did & buy an estate so you can ram it full of bikes :)

I've got a bike that is still the right size, its a rigid frame, which i prefer.

Hell yeah, South Wales is one big mountain, there's a few tracks and trails around here, but i prefer to just go out, and see what i find instead of going to a particular place.

m0rk: removing the rear wheel would be a pain though as you'd have to take the chain off each time. Will give it a go 2nite, gonna line the seats and boot with old beach towels to hopefully stop any dirt/oil getting on them.

Forbez: My gf is moving to Bristol in 6 weeks so I'll be making trips into wales to sample them there mountains.

Cool, you'll enjoy them mate.

Im still recovering from a bad injury (football not MTB) so still taking it easy.

Taking the rear wheel off, will be simple too, the chain part is easy.
But probably not worth it.

removing back wheels really doesnt take long if you have quick release.

i can take off both wheels and get 2 bikes in the car in about 5-10mins

getting the back wheel back on can take a lil longer but with a bit of wriggle its fine.

just have a go.

with practice it doesn't that long at all.

Both wheels out is the only way forward though - seats totally flat too.

Bikes on the roof (can't fit them to the back because of the spoiler) is going to have you looking in teh mirror waiting to see if they're on the motorway behind you. That or you'll do what my mate did & forget they're there & wallop it into a height restriction bending his roof.

Spec p2 dirt frame, 24" rims with mono m4 180mm up front and a mono mini 160mm on the back. Prefer terrrosing people on the street to getting dirty.

Thinkin about another bike for some trails.
