Hi all
I have a curious questino which I hope someone may be able to answer. I have a factory fitted bluetooth module and currently use the BMW ipod cable so that I can listen to music in my car. What I want to be able to do is use voice control on the iphone rather than the button on the car (I can ask it toplay particular albums + artists this way rather than scrolling etc)
The problem is that since using the cable, i am not able to use the iPhone voice control. It dims the music but the the bluetooth microphones don't seem to be activated. Bear in mind this works fine if I do not have the BMW iPod cable connected. I can still use the Seat Bluetooth controls fine and make and receive calls, but only to numbers I have pre-programmed into the car or those I can recall by memory.
I tried troubleshooting this a bit, opening voice control on the iphone and then also pressing the bluetooth button on the seat to 'open' the channel. I have done this a number of times to no avail. However, on one occassion I did hear the 'beep-bep' of the voice control prompt with the connection 'open' but then the seat started talking to me and closed the connection. I haven't been able to repeat this and there was a significant delay between me pressing voice control and hearing that beep on the speakers.
One thnig I have noticed is that sometimes when using the iphone voice control without the cable in place is that there is a delay between voice control starting, activating the bluetooth connection and then hearing the beep. This is instantaneuos if you are using the phone normally, without a bluetooth connection.
anyway, are there any of you using an iPhone, have the factory installed bluetooth and are usnig an iPod cable that can do a couple of test runs for me as well and feedback? or would anyone be able to shed some light on what may be the casue of the issue here?
Thank you all in advance.
