It was working properly until mid day Saturday. Managed to get the boot open by climbing inside and taking the trim off and moving the white lever to open it manually but i dont hear the motor that used to unlock it when lifting up the seat logo on the boot. Wires look fine. and they were pushed in properly. please help. car is a 2013 1.4 Toca .thank you

Common problem with VW boots opening. On my moms car she had an intermittent. It would stop working and then suddenly come back all fine. In the end had to get it into Seat. There was corrosion on on the connector terminal. So try unplugging each component and follow wiring back and unplug any others and check in there for and signs of Corris on or water getting in.

im not going back to SEAT. i had the cars last major service in 2018. had a new water pump and timing belt all was very espensive. then the coolant was leaking all over the engine and overheating light would come on kept having to top up the coolant tank. then when they eventually agreed to look at it they said the water pump was faulty and replaced it. i still have the coolant alarm come on randomly every few weeks and the car doesnt start up like it used to, its very lumpy and splutters and can stall. happens more on hot or cold days. ok once engines warmed up. now i have this boot issue. i love the look of the cars but all the issues have put me off the seat stealers.

the boot is now a nuisance as i carry things in it a lot and have a spare wheel in it. i need someone that can tell me what to do that has had the same issue

Maybe use the search function as this has been happening to a lot of people with this model as well as with previous models, mainly SEAT though, VW seem to have a better record on this problem.

iv done a search before and its useless. just a post about a 2010 model. They replaced the microswitch/badge. But how do i know what component is at fault? the wire? the lock mechanism? the microswitch? All looks visualy fine. No motor sound when pressing the microswitch whichi can hear being pressed.

I had mine apart for a similar issue and honestly, it's not worth the hassle beyond just replacing the unit with a new/used one and getting on with your life :moon:

I'm not saying go to seat. But I was in same position. Everything looked fine I even looked down the the wires from the plug end and it seemed okm but turns out there was corrosion inside. So I'm assuming the they opened up the plug connectors heads and the corrosion was a little further down where just looking at it from the top you couldn't see.

to all, in the end the car when back to seat. They rectified the problem. They said it was a broken wire. It appears the broken wire was inside the black connector block in the boot (as I said the one i did not know how to open). The technician said he has hard wired it now, so completely missed out the connector and crimp connected both ends. This has solved the problem for now. See pictures of before and after (repair).

Alittle annoying that I just needed to get into that black connector and I would of seen a broken wire, but even now I don't no how it is clipped together, but you live and learn and hopefully someone can show me how to open it lol.
