Ok, my driver-side brake light died earlier today. I tried swapping the bulb, which didn't fix the prob, so I swapped the 2x rear light clusters over, but the fault stayed on drivers side. I presume if the brake switch fails, that none of the brake lights would work, so think it could be a result of my previously leaky rear wiper causing a problem with the wiring?

Any thoughts?

The water pipes for the rear washer run along the passenger side, so if your problem is on the drivers side it probably isn't that.

The actual wiper leaked though, and this had caused the boot lock actuator and boot light microswitch to fail. If the main wiring comes along the passenger side, then surely it feeds through the trim along the rear bumper (i.e , under the boot latch) to get to the location of rear drivers cluster.

I didn't pay much attention when I took my boot trim off as I only took the bottom section off and not the side panels, but I thought that the wiring for each cluster goes down its respective side of the car. I don't remember seeing anything under the boot latch but I was trying to fix a problem with the wiper so wasn't really looking properly.

Ok cheers, I'll just have to have a good look around at the weekend.

i had an intermittent fault with my drivers side rear light and it was the terminals inside where the bulb sits make sure there clean and have abit spring on them i just bent mine right up.

Thanks for the suggestion mate, but I'd already taken both clusters and swapped them over, so even with the passenger cluster, plugged into the drivers side wiring it failed to work. It seems to be the supply to the cluster. Incidentally the Indicator works fine.
