Hi all,

I own a 2004 Ibiza 1.9, bloody great car, I'm more of a lurker than a poster around this neck of the woods.

My sis is looking at a 2008 Leon Stylance model. It's a1.9TDI, There's 64k on the clock. It also has full main dealer service history, which is nice. Basically, is there anything I need to look out for with these? No mention of the belt being done, but I haven't called the garage yet. Also the car has 6 months warranty. Are there any glaringly obvious things I need to check when I go to look at it?

As they say, forewarned is forearmed. ;)

Any advice appreciated, I was looking through the FAQ section, but I'm not too familiar with what applies to this car in terms of issues, I do understand tat they are mechanically sound machines, for the most part, at least if mine is anything to go by :)

I don't have the tdi but I guess some of the things to look for are the same...

- sound proofing under the bonnet going mouldy...
- check the rear wiper works and still shoots water and doesn't leak into the boot
- check for the usual coloured smoke when running (I'm guessing in a diesel blue still isn't good)
- if you know anyone with Vcds near you take them with you to plug in and check for errors

I'm running out I'm sure there's more but it's early and I'm still knackered lol

Hope that helps

How much is it up for? Might find you can get the 1.4 TSi for the same money which is a much nicer engine, smoother and faster than the 1.9 TDI,
