Hi all i am currently getting a funny whining/ hissing noise at around 3,000 rpm up to 4,500 rpm.

I am not sure what it is but i thought i would check my diverter valve which i have changed and is a rev d version,

It looked ok but when i took it out it came in two pieces .

now i am not sure if this is how it came, i dont think so, so i am thinking maybe the noise is because of this faulty part and when i am on WOT it is letting air seep through...,...

Does that sound mental or could it be something else??:confused:

Thanks for your help

Chris

Not an expert at all. Just responding cos I had my DV changed two weeks back and my car had a similar whining/hissing noise before and it's gone now. Mine was fitted with latest Rev H which I was told is perfect.

I might look into changing mine again to eliminate possible causes.

Does anyone know how much they are.

I will have to try Dave at sere

I think I have just been really unlucky.
My rev d valve is busted.
I spoke Jo Dave at sere and they have a very low failure rate but I must be unlucky.
However Dave has got me one £47 so not the end of the world.
The broken one is less than a year old so still under warranty but I don't think its word I. Ie battle to get it replaced.

I did find this on the golf forum though and it has happened to others.

I cant help with it being brocken but I want to change mine and was wondering where abouts on the engine its fitted. I had a quick look under the bonnet but couldnt see it so if you could help I would be gratefull :)

On the cupra it can be accessed under the bonnet really easy. But on the fr the turbo is located underneath the engine. If you jack up the car and remove the drivers side wheel and look up you will see it.

It is a very fidly job on the fr but if you got the right tools i suppose it cant be too hard??

OK update.

It's not the diverter value as I have changed it for a brand new one.

This is doing my head in now.

I will try and upload some videos so you guys can hear the noise.

How much was youre diverter valve?

This may be a long shot but have you checked your turbo for play?
another thing do you have an induction kit on you're car? it may be the turbo you can hear through it

It was 47 quid, i have got a spare one now as i know it was not a faulty dv , its the rev d version.

Not checked anything yet i dont really know were to start.

My car is completely standard

do you want to sell you're spare?

I think I'd check to see if a pipe has come off from somewhere or has any splits in, then checkturbo for play and make sure all levels are correct. Then I'd check the pulleys and auxilery belt
