much more than 180bhp would make it an uninsurable, uneconomic purchase for what is in effect still - a shopping trolley.
FR Diesel is 130bhp, FR 1.8T is 150bhp
my maths is good enough to let me know that neither are 180bhp
regardless of 'history' - people won't afford to run a 200bhp hot hatch very soon
If people cant afford a 200hp hothatch they can simply buy the lesser versions though.
What im saying is that the next FR will have about 170 hp and the diesel will be 140hp. Its natural progression things will once again move on.More power, cleaner emissions and better MPG. Plus all the competitors hothatches are now 200hp and above so I would hardly think SEAT with the backing of VAG would be one to all of a sudden shy away from making a 200hp ibiza cupra, especially seeing as they will have planned the car long before the fuel crisis hit.
i hope for 200bhp and i am likely to buy the petrol cupra when its out
that will make 2 of us then. Here is to hoping its the 2.0T and not a further jumped up 1.4.
All current VAG trends point to the 2.0T though but then the ibiza cupra could be a first. If seat do mess it up I'll just buy a scirrocco or quattro TT, or a Audi A1.
If they don't give the car a 200BHP derv then I will be buying elsewhere.
Most probably Scirocco (spell?)
All they have to do is drop the 2.0 TDI in, change the turbo, larger intercooler, different map and they can see 200BHP and leave plenty of space for us to remap to larger amounts![]()
