Changing mk2 dashboard

Spotted this in my local scrappy on a gti ibiza...

looks ace will this be a straight swap into my 1.4?, as mines got the daft clock in? how will needles work properly?

You won't need to do all that. Good guide, but you shouldn't need to do all that.

Just unscrew the fascia covering it (you'll see the screws if you look up at it through the wheel), take that out through the steering wheel.

Take out the 2 screws on each side, clocks come out, unplug the cable.

Pull the buzzer and the handbrake light out of the clocks you want to put in.

Put the new clocks into the dash, plug them in, screw in, put the fascia/surround back in, job done.

Yeah the mileage will be different, so the key is to get some clocks that have similar miles to yours.

But you can keep the mileage if your good with soldering.......

ahh right :( thanks mate saved me tho.. im not gonna be able to do it due to my insurance i got a tracker on it on the milage so changing that they will realise, thanks anyway tho :D

the best way i can describe it is like a phone contract like i say how many miles im gonna do and if i go over i pay extra, and its linked directly to that, its the only way i could get insured with me being 17.

Arun i need an In-dept guide of that lol

I Have my GTi Clocks (the paper bits)
and wanna remove the black (paper bits)
altho i dont want to break a clip when opening the whole Clocks


im clumsy you see :lol:

That's harder than replacing the whole clock system lol, and you won't have a rev counter (one of the main reasons I got the GTI clocks).

And the black paper bits aren't paper, they're metal and I'm sure they don't come out. Plus you would have to make sure the printings are EXACTLY the same.
