Sorry if chipping is the wrong term lol... remap?

Basically i have a mk5 ibiza 1.4 sport and although i love the car i would love something with abit more kick to it...

I was asking some friends about getting a new car and they suggested chipping it, would there be any point to chipping a 1.4 and what gains would i expect to see??

Thanks.

I had the same basic engine in my Arosa and that made 104bhp on the rollers with an AMD remap, but it prob had different cams than your one. I drove a 1.4 sport Ibiza MK5 and it did feel a bit flat, but I guess it would after a Cupra.:( try the usual filter/exhaust route first.

Unless you have a light car with a nice rev'y 16v or better engine I wouldn't bother with a remap.

I had a 1.6 16v 106 GTi and added a de-cat exhaust, enclosed incuction kit, 4-2-1 manifold and a L/B fly wheel. It was 120BHP stock and made 145BHP after. A remap would only really make a difference if i'd changed the cams. They can make 160BHP+ then.

A standard 1.4 in a car that weighs as much as an ibiza.. nah dont waste your money. If your not happy with the car sell it for something you will be happy with that has more poke.

Yeah chipping is the "old school" term. Remap is where its at :D

Revo Remap would see 8-10% gains BUT would void your warranty and Seat would be able to tell as they could see your ECU would have been flashed.

If you're not too worried about your warranty and want a remap I suggest a full exhaust system, enclosed induction kit or derestricted airbox, cams then the remap, reckon you might see 100bhp, perhaps a tad over. Would cost around £1k-£1.5k

With revo remap and seat sport intake = 101hp. Here, the Greek Seat sells a version of the 1.4 ibiza with these as standard and on dyno it produces over 100ps.

(That is the car my dealer gave me while i was waiting for mine. It was really good, and certainly faster compared to the 85ps 14. )

remap and intake together are about 500 €. Also, i think they remove an air restrictor from the engine. (i don't know more info about this)

Some more info
stock 85ps and torque 13,5 kgm , 0-100 km/h 12.9 sec , 0-1.000 m 34,6 sec
Sport up pack 101ps 13,7 kgm , 0-100 km/h 12,0 sec, (11,7sec on an other test) 0-1.000 m 33,9 sec
