Chrome mirror covers.

Hi everyone,

I am in desperate need for some guidance lol.

I've just picked up a brand new set of chrome mirror covers for my pre FL leon on ebay. I've managed to get my original covers off with no problems.

However....... I must have spent a good hour and a half this evening trying to fit the new chrome ones.
I can get them clipped in towards the top,but just cant get a flush fit around the bottom and side of the cover. And its driving me looney and i want it all looking just right on the car lol. And im almost certain that there shouldn't be a slight gap around the edges.

Can anyone please advise or guide me where im going wrong???

Are they Genuine? If yes, then place them on and then push them all round, dont fit it from the top fully first as that may be your problem. Do your original ones go back on straight away without any problems?

If they do then there is something wrong with your chrome covers

Yeah they are genuine covers from the dealer still all sealed in the box never been opened.
I'll have to have another try tomorrow and try fitting them from the bottom/side as you suggest and not from the top. My original covers fit straight back on perfect. NO gaps round edges etc. :-s

So they should fit no probs, take your time with them lol but it should be the same way. I dont see why there would be a gap, maybe you could take a pic and post a link tomorrow if you still have the problem. As you dont have 15 posts yet, put the link in a post without the www and I will upload it up if necessary.

Also make sure you havent broken any of the clips and they all fall into place before pushing it on otherwise they will never fit lol

Hi mate,

Been at it again this morning and still absolutely no joy! ARRRGGHHHH lol.

All clips are still perfect none broken (YET). lol
I've even tried leaving them in a bucket of hot water to try and get a bit more play out of them but its not having any of it. :-(
The only other thing i can think of is to try and get the mirror out and guide the clips in from that way, not too keen of the idea as im a bit scared of breaking something in the process. lol

How can something so straight forward prove to be such a pain lol?????
