When moving:

I have this on my 310 when the car is first driven it then disappears after 3-5 miles, my one has the Haldrex 4wd system and I believe an LSD in the front.

I had the drive shafts looked at last service and cupra said they were fine with no issues.

I did it last saturday when first pulling out of my road almost full right lock gentle throttle, then 7 miles later I tried to re create it in an empty car park with various degrees of steering lock both left and right and various amounts of acceleration, I could not get the noise to re occur.

Its possible that if my car does have an LSD in the front that it just does this when cold / first used.

When Stationary:

I also had something similar when stationary and popped the car on a friends 2 post lift, I found a stone had managed to be flicked up and got stuck between the steering rack assembly and the subframe in which it sits, these are mounted together but move very slightly independently of each other due to bushings being used.

The stone was stuck fast between the two and as the rack moved very slightly compared to the sub frame it caused a click noise only just audible in the cabin. I removed the stone and the noise has never re occurred.

Ahh okay, thanks for your reply. Mines been at a dealers for 5 weeks and they’ve greased the bump stops, went to pick the car up knowing it wouldn’t have been fixed, still doing exact same, it’s now left with the dealer again and they’ve said they think it’s an issue with the steering rack. Doesn’t fill me with a lot of confidence if that didn’t sort yours.

You’ll have to let me know if you manage to get it sorted and what it was causing the issue.

I’ve only had the car for a year and it’s already had a new gearbox at 16k, only a few months ago. Absolute nightmare with it!
