Clutch Rattle - 1.6 TDI - 42000 miles

Could anyone confirm if this sounds like a clutch release bearing or dual mass fly wheel issue?

Noise:
In neutral, release clutch quickly and you get a quiet rattle.
In neutral, depress clutch and rattling stops.
In neutral, release clutch gently and there is no rattling.
Drive in first/second gear with no gas at tick over speed, depress clutch and release before the car can slow down and you sometimes get the same quiet rattle until you press the gas and speed up or depress the clutch.
The rattle is never very loud, even talking can mask the sound. Although you can feel it through the clutch pedal.

If it is a clutch release bearing issue, will ignoring it lead to more serious issues?

Thanks.

Just got my car back. Drives really nice again, however my starter motor now makes a funny noise when I turn it on.

Out of interest, what chance do you think I've got of claiming the Flywheel back under warranty, the flywheel was only worn because the rivets from the clutch plate had worn a tiny grove in it. Personally I think the clutch damaging the flywheel is a design problem.

I will call and email SEAT tomorrow. The dealership said it wasn't under warranty, but I think it is ridiculous that wearing your clutch out ruins the flywheel. They showed me the clutch and flywheel at the dealership and you could see there was grippy material left but the material had worn down to the rivets causing rattling and damage to my flywheel.

I've got the 1.6 petrol of the same power, had excactly the same problem. Mine ended up being a double bearing in the gear box had worn to sh*t. it should be on warranty if you have it
