guys, my clutch is slipping very slightly when the car is cold only started doing it since i got the car mapped yesterday. if i wait till it;s all up to temp and floor it it will slip, but if i leave it another say 10 mins till everything is really hot, it's fine, no slipping in any gear? is it to do with the high power and torque? does it mean theclutch is on it;s way out, or is it normal to slip when not hot on a powerful ibiza?

You're going through the same as what I went through.
When mine was done this also happened. Same time of year too!!!
Sorry to say, it gets worse. Mine started doing it from cold but then started doing it every time the boost came in. Ended up frying my flywheel.
I replaced mine with the Spec stage 3 clutch. It's mega overkill in performance terms and money terms (£800 - ouch) but I had the money and was desperate to get it replaced as the car was off the road and JBS had one lying around. Job done.
Take it easy for the meantime and start looking for alternatives from various suppliers. When my clutch came out it, we discovered it was only half worn (70K miles). It just didn't have the clamping pressure to cope with the torque.

64,000 miles. i think i do need a new clutch. can anyone reccomend a decent place to get one from? :(

how long between it slipping when cold till it slipped all the time?

Well I had the car mapped in January last year. It started slipping quite soon afterwards but then the weather warmed up and it wasn't such an issue, just now and again. Come October time it started getting worse, doing it all the time and couldn't really drive round it. Then, this time last year, my flywheel well and truly warped due to slipping all the time.

If you can resist putting your foot down, hard I know especially after having this done (kind of defeats the object), it should last long enough for you to get the funds together to buy an uprated one.

Try some of the sponsers on this site to see what they can offer you. You certainly shouldn't need to get the one I've got. I must say, though, the service I got from JBS was exceptional but do shop around. Try and get one with a torque rating of at least 300lb ft torque.

your clutch may be fine yet. If it has only happened since you got it remapped in the last few days why don't you take it back and get the map tweaked so that the torque is smoothed out a bit

oh so quite a while then. i was thinking i might have had a couple of days! it's absolutely fine when all the internals and engine parts are hot etc.

just got nearly £2000 xmas bonus at work so might get it done next month!

jabba are a 2.5 hour drive from me :( would that help or would it lose me torque?

If they (JS) can do it, it would be the cheaper option to have it pegged back slightly (they probably wouldn't even charge you for it). Yes, you will lose some torque in the process but that isn't such a bad thing in a fwd car.

Or go nuts, enjoy the torque and get a clutch to handle it!
