Hi all

I have a 22 plate VZ2 310, and wondering if there is a way to disable the coast function when in D (Drive) ?
Really annoying and sluggish when the car keeps flicking into Neutral when I take my foot off the accelerator.

No, cannot be switched off. Very annoying.

Tuners can permanently disable functions like this, but your ECU have to be openend.

What is coast mode and under what circumstances does it happen? I’ve had my MY22 310 for just over a month and never noticed it switch from D to N….

It happens when you are in normal mode and in D. When you lift off the throttle, watch what happen to your RPM. It will fall down all the way. When you touch the brake pedal or accelerator again it will return the RPM to what it should be.

The gearbox stays in D but you'll get a circle with e in the middle on the dash. Eco mode.
I think the manual says it turns off a couple of cylinders as well

I was thinking that the displayed gearbox setting would change from D to N so that would explain it

Mine is a 21 plate and I am aware of it doing this coast thing because I have seen eco pop up on the dash but have never thought it makes the car sluggish!

I have the same plate and same car and it’s ECO mode don’t think it makes it sluggish. It’s actually pretty good. When I don’t want it and want to drive less conservative and have fun it would be in CUPRA mode.

in my vz 310 the cruising mode is not engaging whenever lifting your foot of the accelerator but conditionally and never downhill, at least this is what I so far notice. It seems that it engages only when conditions allow, which I guess has to do with the central control unit.

By sluggish, I guess im more referring to the throttle response - think lifting off while approaching a roundaboat or a slower car then accelerating again, the car needs to re-engage the gear again so there is that delay. Thanks for the replies, looks like the only way around it is to drive in Sport mode on the gearbox - which is fine except when the car is cold I would prefer for it not to rev match to 4/5k rpm LoL :)

In comfort mode there is always a delay (lag) when pressing the gas pedal especially when you are on lower rpms, happens in most cars and has to do mainly with emissions/consumption but also for durability. In sport/cupra mode it is almost unnoticeable but at the same time your revs are always kept higher affecting consumption and noise. The idle on comfort mode is on abt 900 rpm and on sport/cupra on abt 1100 rpm , this is the reason that on the sport/cupra mode you get a better response from the start as the revs are higher from idle.
