Coincidence?

Done a lot of miles recently so decided to check my oil. The engine cover had popped off again so pinned that back down and checked the dip stick, still on max which is nice as my previous Octavia seemed to use litres of the stuff every month.

Left it an hour or so then set off to Asda only to be told I need a service in 1800 miles, absolute total coincidence or could me taking the dip stick out have triggered some sensor somewhere?

If it's on a fixed servicing schedule, then it'll go by mileage rather than the variable servicing which uses a number of factors to determine when it's next due one, so neither i guess...

coincidence. or it should be given they say you should check the oil very often.

Is there any mileage or time based link? 6 months? 12 months? 10,000 miles since service etc?

1800 miles would make me just short of my 20k miles service, so it is about right.

Just thought it was a bit of a coincidence!
