I have just bought the iPhone lead to plug into the combined USB/aux-in port. When I connect it works (the track name etc is displayed) however I am unable to select playlists or albums I am only able to play the music on the iPhone in alphabetical order. Anyone got any ideas?

Select browse and keep selecting "Up". This will take you up through the folders, when you reach the right level you'll have the option of selecting Playlists, Albums, Songs, etc. It confused me a bit at first when I got mine because when you go up to the level that you need displays "*your name* iPhone" and i tried opening this folder which is empty, you need to use select folder left or right when you see this it will display Playlists, Albums etc.

I tried a cable i bought off of eBay a few weeks back-

The usb charges the iphone - Via USB
The jack allows audio output - Via AUX

BUT - when i plug both of these in it shows as media not recognised. Actually as soon as the USB is plugged in the message is displayed

Is it possible to have a usb device plugged in and a jack into the aux at the same time? Currently, usb takes priority over aux and only one shows when i press media on H/Unit. I have an 11plate FR 170 DSG if it is could be the head unit/ CUP software/firmware? I haven't researched this but might make an interesting project to devise a way of switching between the two(USB/AUX) while keeping the 'combined' option (and possibly rigging a mic up with that ;))....just a thought though after all i am pretty sure its going to be my cable that’s non compatible
The cable I’d bought was an eBay job but said it was iphone 4 compatible so i assumed all cables were the same?? Can anyone confirm if there are different pin out configurations for the cables and if there is a specific SEAT/VAG configuration? Or even point me to a cable that’s been tried & tested - i see the BMW one works but are there any others rather than a £30-£40 factory jobby??

One more question..... Is it possible to use the phone hands free with this cable - as in, does the microphone (from the phone) take sound input and audio output from the speakers?

Below is the link to the cable I have bought that works:

Before i bought the cable above I bought this one:

which only cost £3 inc postage from Hong Kong!! However it didn't work, it would charge the iPhone but thats all it did. When connected to the USB and AUX sockets it came up with something like media device not recognised on the radio.

Hope that helps.

Just tried to post this including links but I am unable to as I got an error 'You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more.'

Are you using separate USB cable and AUX cable? I don't think that will work, or maybe it will but you won't be able to get media info on the stereo or control the iPhone with it.

Hands free...it's not ideal but I think you can make it put the sound out over the speakers, but it will still use the phones built in microphone obviously. You're better installing the OEM bluetooth and using that, it actually works and has steering wheel controls.

So i can be pretty much sure that its my cable.....shame cos i thought i'd got an ebay bargain!!! another one for the junk drawer then......

Just so people know - The cheap ebay cable i bought is not compatible with any ipod/iphone (i have a few old ones and tried out friends ones, classic/touch/iphone 3 etc..) and the CUP port in the Leon. If you need a link to the cable i'd bought that does not work just get in touch(I cant post links on her yet cos i'm a newbie)

Adam S - any chance you could private mail the links or take out the HTeeTeePee. and or dot com and repost?

Thanks

Just to make you guys aware I have had to put my car back to the dealer today with issues with the CUP/ipod. The salesman said this is not the first one he has had back with this problem. Just a thought for you guys having problems with leads etc.

Both the items you linked to seem really expensive and one wasn't even new. The one I linked to is only £8.50 and (so far) has worked perfectly for me.

Any more info on this one?? what was the outcome?

Techguy : QUOTE - Are you using separate USB cable and AUX cable? I don't think that will work, or maybe it will but you won't be able to get media info on the stereo or control the iPhone with it.

The cable i have has a standard apple cable which plugs directly into the phone then splits to two cables - one usb one aux.

This one here in fact that does not seem to work with my set up:

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280608054310&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Can anyone cofirm - if two separate sources are plugged in at the same time (e.g. usb flash drive & aux to mp3player) does the head unit show both usb and aux options?

Cheers

I don't think I can answer your question exactly, but the cable you linked to may possibly work to charge the ipod and allow you to hear whats playing on the ipod via the aux in BUT my guess is you will not be able to control the ipod from the head unit. If you get the £8.50 one I linked to earlier you will have iPod charging and be able to select / view whats playiing on the ipod via the head unit.

Got the car back this afternoon and seems like they are grassping at straws. They have ordered a new CUP interface and even a new stereo to try and eliminate which is faulty. Stereo has a 10 day waiting list so will have to wait till I get home from offshore to see the outcome.

The problem I have on my 2010 cr FR is AUX socket in te stereo works fine but plug the same jack lead into the AUX socket nxt to the USB and using the balance button if I tur the sound all the way to the right it sounds fine but turn the sound all the way to the left side speakers I get a horrid distorted sound. I know the speakers are ok as same lead in the stereo AUX socket the left and right speakers work fine and get same sound from both side speakers. Cars been at seat today about this but got car back and still same so back on the phone tomorrow for a rant!! Also bought the propper seat lead and same problem with sound from left and right speakers. Anyone had this????
