Hi,
Doing a coolant change tomorrow as just realised the wrong coolant was put in the cupra when the timing belt was replaced. In the haynes manual it says if other coolant has been used then flushing the cooling system with water should be done before adding the new coolant.

Just wondering what peoples' thoughts are on this? Is it necessary?

Cheers,
Ryan

Not sure mate, I top mine up occasionally but went to the dealer to ask about it and they sold me the specific VAG coolant, thing it is G12 or something, it's bright pink.

Even if your original coolant 'might' have been ok for VW heads, mixing it with G12 isn't going to work out too good. And for the sake of blasting a hose worth of water into various orifices you might as well go for it.

Yeah, got the one for the mk 4! I thought flushing would be the best idea anyway. But i'm going to wait for my mechanic friend to help me with it on Tuesday :).

Cheers for the help!
