Always a good turnout at Croft, apparently a quite a few people camp nearby :whistle:. Keep an eye out of the forum, because its quite a way a way , and we tend to concentrate on the events that are coming up shortly.

I live in the region in South Shields so it isn't in question whether me and my old dad are going.

The embankment overlooking Hawthorn/Chicane and looking toward parc ferme looks like the highest but the best vantage point is the usual gathering point; the lowest part of the embankment looking up the start/finish straight.

But I guess I have an extra and more personal reason to go. Robertshaw Racing. I just found out this week jus how local the locality of Robertshaw Racing's HQ is (about 10-15mins into the drive to the circuit we actually will now pass the road in Boldon in South Tyneside where the HQ is situated) and the depth of involvement from personell who were raised and educated in region. I learned Gary Robertshaw is from Whitely Bay; as is Alan Taylor, the team boss (Joe Bradely) is from Weaside and Harry Vaulkhard is from Newcastle. So I really feel I ought to go to lend my support to a team that operated out of a unit so close to me.

I'll be there, me and my mate have gone for the past couple of years, always a good day out and i always end up getting sunburn!!!!

I think i'm going to do Donnington and Oulton Park this year as well.

Will you be gathering with the other members?

I do not myself go with the members but I endeavour to try to locate next to them.

i always end up getting sunburn!!!!

Me too! I have lost count of the times I have ended up getting sunburn! Atleast twice! Problem is location y'know.

That part of North Yorkshire is many many miles from the coast so it doesn't get the off-shore breezes that can cool early-mid summer temperatures. Plus certain sheltered spots do tend to be suntraps. Though you would think such a cooling would be blessed relief for those who, like me, have the skin that burns easy, I fear if temperatures don't get up to the norm for that time of year, it may be very very cool indeed judging by recent conditions. We had hail this morning here in Sunny South Shields!

My advice is, if you burn as easy as I do....go buy from Boots or Superdrug a non-sticky spray-on sun screen with a good factor. I had my SEAT tee on last year and I learned the hard way the fabric is no block for your shoulders.

I don't know about meeting others, just see how it goes, we don't camp over, just set off about 8ish on the sunday morning. I like to walk round the carparks as well as there are some nice motors!! I particularly liked the Gallardo spider i saw last year in balloon white.:-o

We dont bite ! much .....

Where do you guys go then, we normally just park up have a mooch around the garages a bit then i think we'll just set up near the chicane just after the Hawthorne bend, get to see plenty of action, loads of scrubbing.

Does anybody know how to get in field parking?

Quite a few of us camp in the local village full of local people !, and we meet on the pub car park early Sunday morning and convoy in together. Infield parking is a rareity at Croft, even though we have got allocated parking in the past, close to the main entrance.

Just keep an eye out on the forum a little bit closer to the time, and when you get into the circuit look for our large flag pole , as we will be under it.....

Will do, are you going to Donnington aswell?

That is where the old man and I go. Right at the top of the embankment that looks directly out over Hawthorn and Chicane. On a clear day you can see over Parc Ferme to the Sunny's (In and Out).

The one issue I have with the location of the embankment is the trees seem to get in the way of the view directly up the straight that leads to Tower from Chicane.

That is why we prefer to move about. Usually to the top of the opposite embankment where the others tend to base.

You also have a nice tent you sit under, don't you.

Keep an eye out for that too EB20VT.

i'm gonna be there both days - its very much my local track - 10 minutes drive away.

Croft is always a good weekend - more often than not - its hot.

Say, I was watching Rockingham (I know - I am still having nightmares!) and I thought of all the nice cosy rooms like the corporate hospitality suites and bars and things that must be there, and I thought one thing of the people who frequent there, "Poor, poor sods!". Who on earth would geuinely feel a part of the racing atmosphere up in the nice comfy armchairs eating prawn sandwiches and slurping a vat of pims by a roaring fire with their own fully paid for black labrador sitting by their side?

Places like Croft get a right old bashing from outsiders for it's poor facilities, and I must admit a floor full of urine makes me wanna puke but I like it because though I would love to see Croft thrive it hasn't I think been lost to the modern way of viewing sporting events. It is very much in touch still with the historic atmosphere. It hasn't changed since certainly when the late great David Leslie was part of the first roster of BTCC drivers to race in the inagural meeting in 1997. Brands Hatch may be the jewel in the crown of the BTCC but Croft is that hard-wearing reliable watch that always keeps perfect time.
