Hi would anyone be able to advise me on a few things ?

1. Does the cupra 300 Leon dsg 6spd have a timing belt or chain and when does it need to be changed ?

2. How much it likely to cost and is it worth changing the water pump at the same time ?

It's done 31k miles

Thanks in advance

Timing chain, you need regular good quality regular oil changes to keep it in good order.

The water pump housing (plastic) may give
up, causing a leak, unfortunately it's quite common on these engines. Just keep an eye on coolant level.

The cost of the water pump/thermostat fix is appx £475 from a main dealer.

My car is in at the moment for investigation for this fault.

Hope this helps

I had my thermostat housing fail at 28k miles.

Replaced under warranty.

Then at 32k miles and 9moths later the seal failed between the two and had to have the water pump changed.

No help from seat at all and just outside warranty period by 3months.

Cost me about 750 about 140 for the part and the rest labour.
As the whole engine pretty much needed stripping to access.
