I have had my
cupra 300 auto for about 4 years. 33000k miles
67 plate.
Lovely car, definitely makes you smile to drive. I'm sure everyone would agree.
One thing to look out for is the water pump and thermostat housing, this has had to be replaced on mine after only 28k miles
It seems to be a fairly common fault too. And can be between £700-1400 to repair.
Hope this helps.
Having bought the car back in February, I ended up having to get this done in October with 18k miles. Luckily I had it done after my MOT and under second hand warranty from the dealership - so would definitely take note of this issue.
As any form of further advice in my time owning one for anyone potentially looking at buying and stumbling across the thread :
Tyres are key to performance and getting power down. I've not long put PS4s' on and so far prefer these to the P Zeros I had on from when I purchased the car - although some of this may be related to wear.
Clutch slip is a pain if you sod up your gear change a little or pull too often. I've not had many issues with this at all so far *touches wood*...
I expected to not get the gear change farts out of owning the manual, if I am high enough through my rev range with my foot down or lose traction whilst my foot is down - it does sometimes make the noise.
I know you very much don't buy a car like this with the concern of fuel economy, but my long term across 4500miles is 31.8mpg. I do vastly pleasure mileage with the odd long trip, mixed in with some city driving. On a 110mile journey that was majority motorway, I managed just over 38mpg - I am really impressed with the mpg that it can get for the power.
The difference between the harsher cupra suspension mode as opposed to comfort is really good, big fan of how well it can be driven as a "normal" car (albeit this is very rarely done).
Very, very happy with my purchase and wouldn't think twice to recommend.
