Hello,

New to the forum as i recently purchased a 2007 cupra, a big upgrade from my previous c2 1.6, after enjoying the first 4/5months of ownership, its finally gave me a couple issues, mainly overheating.

Was sitting in traffic for about 5 minutes when i noticed the temp going from 90 upto around 110, eventually it hit around 130 within a few minutes of looking for somewhere to safely pull over to have a look. Steam started pouring out from the coolant before i had the chance.

Had to get rac out as i didnt want to drive it as the coolant had completely drained (puddles under the car)

The guy checked the expansion tank ect which appeared to show no leaks and also didnt think it was the waterpump which i thought it may have been, checked all the fuses for the fans and tested the connections. The fans dont seem to be kicking in at all.

What do use reckon it could just be faulty fans or? Managed to drive it 5 miles home once the coolant was topped up. Im not that great at all this stuff just learninh the basics.

Also anyone know a rough price of parts?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help a newbie out

Have you checked the fuses for the fans? Not sure of the location on mk2, but on mk1 they are on top of the battery.

The fans can die completely, when it over heats if you suddenly drive off?
Does the car then cool down again?
If so fan, connections, fuses ,thermostat s need checking first.
