Cupra ST 300 4Drive lag... DSG and/or engine remap?

Hey guys. I know this is not news to most people but sometimes I really notice the inconsistent lag that you can get when you put your foot down in Sport and Cupra modes. Will a DSG and / or Stage 1 engine remap go some way to significantly reducing this? :)

I don't 'want' to modify the car but if I can see real-world improvements in power delivery when I put my foot down then I will certainly consider it.

Not shure about the gear change lag, but the throttle response on my car was a little laggy from the start, but it became much better as the gearbox is learning your driving style. Give it a little time and see then.

There are two other simple (and not overly expensive) options you may want to consider.

1/ You can change the throttle response (using VCDS, OBD11 Or Carista (i think)) between
A - Gradual, controlled by time
B - Directly controlled threshold value

Some say cant tell the difference others it makes it much better to drive.

2/ The Stock Diverter valve can be replaced to give better throttle response
This is the one I went with ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GFB-DV-V...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 ) There are other makes out there but this may help.

I notice lag as well, but I think it is more down to the fact that the revs drop to around 1500-1800rpm and the DSG box has you in 6th gear when at those revs you should be in 4th at the most. I drop the box to sport mode and the revs rise out of this dead-spot area.

This is a myth - the software isn't adaptive and can't "learn" anything.

Okay, if you say so, always thought that it is doing it, as the older (dont know about the new ones) automatic gearboxes are doing it? I know that the DSG is not a automatic gearbox but at least it really feels like changing the shift points and throttle feel if you were giving it some beans on D.

I never really nocticed lag before the remap if I’m honest, definitely not in sport or cupra mode.

Now with the ECU and TCU remap, in comfort mode it is more noticeable. Not because it’s laggy, but because the car has so much more go when it goes on boost. In sport/Cupra it’s more likely on boost due to the way it’s setup.

For example in comfort mode of if pootling and then I put my foot down to accelerate a little more briskly. When it goes on boost it suddenly accelerates a good notch more than when it was stock. Where on stock it’s a smaller step.
