Could any one advise if they have replaced a downpipe on an LCR?

Thinking of doing mine as a step towards the CC Ph.2, but i've heard its sub frame off?

Cheers

I would say you need a 2 post ramp so u can stand under the car,I fitted a piper downpipe on mine, and took me about an hour 2 get the old 1 off,had to move the engine forward and move the power steering pipes out the way just to get it out.The problem is the heat shield is to big and wont let you pull the downpipe out.But i didnt remove the subframe. Hope this helps but it can be done

Hi John,

Thanks for the info mate. I'm hopefully getting a bit of help from my mechanic friend, who has a lift ramp. :)

At least it gives me an idea od what to expect.

Cheers again.

No problem lee if i could show you the dance for getting the down pipe out its an art.I'm sure when yours out you will understand what i mean.

Just make sure its cold when you start unbolting the down pipe off the turbo.

I put a new gasket on mine from the turbo to downpipe but my old 1 was perfectly fine.

Good luck with it

I believe you don't need to drop the subframe as you can cut the front hangers off the OEM DP and pull it out that way.
not done this myself though but will be soon

John, I'm gonna be doing mine soon, i've got the chance of a rmap to do it but it's a 1 1/2 hour round trip.

Is it gonna be worth the drive to get the ramp or easy enough on my ass with axle stands?

bill (badger 5) changed the downpipe on my car. we had it on a 2post ramp. it was a bit fiddly getting the bolts undone from the turbo, and to get the dp out, required some clever twisting and wiggling, but it came out without having to move anything.

I've heard of it been done on a driveway with axel stands, but i dont know how it was done. certainly wouldn't of been possible the way we did it due to the amount we had to move the downpipe to get it out
