Drone noise on FR+

Hay all. I recently had new front brake discs and pads, new drivers side cv boot replaced, all parts from tps. A few weeks after that I noticed a faint droning noise (it actually sounds like the pod racers in the Star War film). I had it checked out and because the wheel bearing was disturbed doing the cv boot I thought it was the front wheel bearing. Had a new one replaced by Seat when the done my timing belt. This hasn't cured the problem.

Its loudest at 30-33mph as I said its like the noise the pod racers make on Star Wars (sorry its hard to describe the sound). It changes tone/volume when on different road surfaces, at first I thought it was associated with left hand bends but its not.

My only other reason I can think of is that it has 2 3/4 full F1 Assymetrics on the front and the back 2 F1 GSD3's are on the limit more about 1.5-2mm more and this is cause the strange sound.

Anyway any ideas?

Yes I can feel it in the brake pedal. As if the ABS is working but very very faintly. Tire will be changed in the next week or two. I'll report back then.

If its the same as i had i changed the tyres and the bearings and it made no difference, it was with Seat for over a week and they couldn't find anything.

It did this from the start when i bought it used with 20k on the clock, like i say, i've either got used to it or its gone.

Have you had the car long?

Mine too, had a nice bill for £900 last week. Now its back in with a knocking noise, the pot holes round here are killing it.

I don't think your issue is going to cause you any problems but i simperthise with you, it can be bloody anoying.

I like my car to run as sweet as a nut, and although the noise is faint I know its there.

Seat charged me £485 for the timing belt kit and water pump and for doing the wheel bearing. Although I do additional oil changes every 5k and any other work at my dads work I still like to give my car a dealer service history.

I'm exactly the same, I call it Motor OCD

My mrs couldn't understand why i wanted to spend £150 fixing a scratch on my bumper, she said it hardly shows, but i can see it!

Sorted. Cars running sweet as a nut.

The 2 back tyres were faulty. Tread depth the same right accross the tyres but the inside 2 inches of both tyre (tread part) the stucture of the tyres had failed (inside). The guy said its the angle of the speed bumps putting pressure on the insides 2 inches of the tread. 4 wheel allind and all spot on.

I was driving about with no music today just listening to how quiet and smooth my car is now:funk:

Glad u got it sorted - I was just about to say change the rear tyres. I also had GSD3's on the rear at their tread limit and can't believe how quiet the car is now I've just had new F1 asyms fitted all round - feels like a new car :)
