What is the best way to test if the clutch is slipping? and also could 1 slip more than the other?

it isnt slipping much/if at all (hence why i want to test it) but i am sure that in 3rd if i put my foot down especially up bank there seems to be a slight hesitation until around midway through the revs then it seems to pull a bit better and also in 6th if crusing along at say 50 then press the accelerator the revs seem to blip up (marginally) then it starts to pull and when pulling off (for months now) it always feels like it is riding the clutch.

so in summary...
1) best way to test a dsg clutch to see if its slipping?
2) do gears 1, 3 & 6 use the same clutch?
3) do my symptoms sound like clutch slip?

Car is leon fr cr170 with 42k on (most of which is country roads/in traffic well atleast 25k of it is).

I imagine most of this is all in my head and worrying over nothing

Thanks in advance
Matt

Has it had its 40k oil and filter service and gear patern it 1-3-5 and 2-4-6

Yeah it had that done around 7k ago when it was last serviced, I also did the whole reset the box trick the other day where you leave your foot on the accelerator with the ignition on, that didn't do a great deal.

It wont be clutch slip, these boxes are good for over 350hp without slip, plus 47k is nothing. Go to your dealership and get the lastest software, I would put my money on it sorting out your problems ( If not i suspect mechatronics unit) . It sorted all my problems until I accidently overwrote it :(
I'm going back for it next week thank god.

The reset trick lasted a few days for me until it learnt how to behave naughty again.

Sorry to jump in on this thread but how much do the dealers charge for the software update?

It isn't bhp that causes clutch slip it is torque.

A 350bhp car can have 320lbft and be perfectly fine, a 170bhp diesel that is remapped can have even more torque and it is this torque that can cause slip. You can also map the DSG box to increase the oil pressure that in turn increases the clamping pressure on the clutch packs.

Is the op remapped?

Well you obviously know what I meant, a 350hp car wont have only 200ftlb of torque. The box has a 350nm limiter that cuts in occasionally on my car because I have about 420nm. If his car is mapped then it will have more than that but he hasn't mentioned it. The hesitation may well be the limiter in that case
