Dsg problem

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum I have a Ibiza cupra 2009,

I have an issue with the dsg not selecting the following gears 1,3,5,7, this happens after starting the car and a couple of minutes driving the Drive indicator on the dash flashes and then the car jumps into 2,4,6 depending on speed, and won't allow me to select with the paddles or gear selector,

The mechatronics unit has been removed and sent for testing and has no issues so I'm a bit stuck on ideas? Could this possibly be a clutch pack fault?

Any help would be great!

Has your car had the dsg recall? They change the type of oil and dsg software

I don't think it has had the recall, as I have owned it since 32k and has done 68k now, but did take it to seat they mentioned nothing about recall even when I asked them, and they just said new gearbox which would cost 4.5k didn't investigate or pass me any fault codes,

Should I ask seat to do the update on the car, or is more likely to be a clutch pack, and also where is best to get this done if needs to be I'm located in the midlands

Thanks for the help

I would ask them first if its had the recall. Should be on a their database if it has. Plus the recall is FREE! so if it fixes your problem - winner! If not, then could be clutch packs.

I brought mine with about 30k on. Some times (when in manual) coming out a junction in 1st gear, I would then try switch to 2nd but nothing. Only way I could get it unstuck was to turn the engine off and on, to reset it.

Since it's had the recall, no problems what so ever for 35,000 miles (touch wood)

It's probably just me but DSG posts seem to be a mixture of overweaning praise and perplexing problems in equal measure whereas manual owners just seem to take their gearbox for granted. :snack:

If your experiencing the problem something is already wrong.
If mechatronics goes wrong it's storing error codes in the box ecu. If there are no codes then clutch packs plus software update.
The recall is preventing rather than solution when something goes wrong.

Checked with Seat and it has had the updated software in march 2015 therefore I would say it is probably the clutch pack, I have very little understanding about this gear box other than it has two clutches does this mean two clutch packs?
