Has any Leon DSG owner noticed transmission whine in the lower ratios at relatively low speeds? Is this normal with DSG? My Leon 1.8 Tsi DSG has covered 1,500 miles and I've noticed that the transmission whines a bit at times. My dealer is a 100 mile round trip and will probably say 'they all do that sir' so I don't want to go down round this route if the consensus is this is fairly normal behaviour for this type of gearbox..

Nope, not normal, at least on my 280. A trip to the dealer sounds in order.

Be aware that to get the gearbox done under warranty will take 2-3 weeks so make sure you call ahead get a loan car booked etc.

There is no whine with the DSG's on a working box

Out of interest is it typically between 1500-2000 rpm under normal acceleration no noise when coasting or when braking?

I have a 1.8 TSi manual Skoda Superb manual, and there is a high pitched whine at 1500 to 2500 rpm. It comes from the turbocharger and has remained unchanged since the day I bought it. I say this just in case one noise is mistaken for another
