Anyone know where an LCR's ECU is located, please? (I assume the location is the same for all Leon 1s?)

Why do I ask? Was moochin' around on another forum where there was chat that ECUs sometimes need replacing due to age, as this forumite clarified:

"The legs of any chip will eventually corrode slightly, and the resulting minute quantities of gunge can sometimes bridge between two legs and intermittently short them together, especially when damp. Either that or a solder joint can crack with age."

If an ECU is gunged up or cracked, it would probably affect engine efficiency and, therefore, bhp/lb-ft and mpg?

Food for thought?

Wouldn't worry. The ecu is well sealed in its case.

Located under the wipers in the scuttle panel on the mk4 golf so presume they did the same with the Leon.

the problem you describe is usually only something you might see on cars with the ECU located inside the engine bay.
i have seen some seat cordoba with corrode ecu. but those engines dont run right and you cant communicate with the ecu via vagcom any more. never seen it on the leon.
